Davey Richmond of Glamour Of The Kill recently spoke with Rock Sound magazine to talk tattoos in issue #145 which is the April 2011 release. While doing so he mentions Avenged Sevenfold. There’s also a poster of the band included in the magazine.
RS: Tattoos are more mainstream now but does rock music and culture still have an influence on why and what people get tattooed?
DR: “Totally. Look at bands like Motley Crue and Avenged Sevenfold, Bleeding Through and Bring Me the Horizon; there are some bands that are so covered in ink that you can’t see any skin – and it’s all colorful, amazing stuff…RS: Do you prefer retro or modern styles?
DR I think all tattoos are amazing in heir own way; old-school tattooists like Sailor Jerry, Ed Hardy and then the new tattooists like Steve Byrne [who] is a well-known tattooist from Yorkshire who has moved to Texas. Old tattoos are a lot simpler. You see punk bands like Gallows with the old-school tattoos then you see bands like Avenged Sevenfold who have the new school tattoos – zombies and stuff like that; there is a lot going on at the moment…
